Starting A New Design Project Can Be FUN!!!!!

I am so excited to start this new design project. This fun client has lived in their home for just over 20 years. They have done a few home projects in the bathrooms but have finally decided that it was time to re-design the main living area of their home.
Their first step was the kitchen and they worked with a Granite company in Frisco who did a beautiful job. They started by selecting a quartzite counter top along with a really pretty backsplash tile that looks so nice with the counters. They also painted the cabinets and will finish with new hardware. It looks really nice… but now it is time to pull it altogether!
Here are the before pictures. There is a lot of yellow gold, and red. The space for the TV was actually designed for the old, really deep TVs. The design is the old world look and we are going to update using the backsplash tile as the inspiration for their “New Look.”

Step One

First things first, we will get our contractor out to see about making the TV niche a little longer and less deep. We want that space to be designed for the new televisions that are out there today and may even talk them into getting a new one that is just a little bit bigger. We then will also do an up-date of the fireplace by removing the old white tile and putting in a new stack stone in a dark gray color. Finally all the walls and trim will get a fresh coat of paint. .
Here is the color scheme that we are using. Soft Grays, Smokey Blue, Neutral Beige, and a little gold. We will use this long narrow sideboard with a new piece of art and a pair of lamps. The rug will be a beige with waves of gray and blue. The sectional will be the soft gray and filled with lots of pillows in the Smokey Blue and this heavily textured fabric. My favorite part will be the new Duette Shades by Hunter Douglas. These new shades are in the Alustra line and in the 1 1/4” size and we will use PowerView automation to connect with their Smart Home System. This is a huge upgrade to the old honeycombs seen in the picture. The finishing touches will complete the room!

I will be sending updates as our work progresses!
